Basics of Beard Care
Regular shampoo for your hair tends to strip away too much natural oil from your beard, leaving it dry and rough. Face Soap leaves a sticky residue, so avoid that as well. Your best bet is a beard shampoo bar, as they’re designed to clean gently and also reach the skin underneath, leaving both hydrated and soft. You don’t need to go crazy, but if you’re going to invest in growing a nice beard, you might as well ensure you have a decent shampoo.
After rinsing the shampoo, apply a cleansing conditioner. I know a lot of men don’t use conditioner on their heads, but you don’t have to look at your head every day: you do look at your face, or other people do. So apply a conditioner - especially in winter. It helps it appear shiny and minimizes dryness. Leave it in for a couple of minutes, or up to half an hour if your beard is super dry.
Last but not least comes beard oil. A good oil no only helps it stay moisturized, minimizes dry or flaky skin and gets rid of dandruff, it also smells good. We highly suggest ours. :)
Summer is on the horizon, and in Canada - our seasons shift quickly. That means our skin and hair take the brunt of those changes. Make sure you’re prepared.
